Duraweld has been awarded a silver status in the Yorkshire and Humber Environment Index and was the joint winner of their Carbon Reduction Award 2011.
Run by Business in the Community (BITC) the Yorkshire and Humber Environment Index 2011 involved 93 regional companies who submitted their details via a self completion online survey. Appearing in the Index for the first time, Duraweld gained a Certificate of Achievement for being one of the highest scoring new entrants. They also shared the prestigious Carbon Reduction Award with Arla Foods.
Adam Frost from Business in the Community commented: "It has been great to welcome Duraweld into the index this year, especially as they are one of the highest placed newcomers and for them to gain the Carbon Reduction Award too, they should be very proud."
The award was collected by Victoria Pitts, Duraweld's Environmental Coordinator, who attended the regional BITC Awards for Excellence Gala Dinner that took place at Leeds United Football Club
Victoria said: "Duraweld believes that protection of our ecosystem and environmentally responsible business practices are essential for sustaining the future of the company and the quality of life for generations to come. I am thrilled that the hard work and determination we have put into our 20 steps environmental programme has been recognised in this way. We have been carbon zero since 2006, and our long term commitment has led to us attaining these prestigious awards."
