|PrintedEasy.com Invests in Renz Trio
PrintedEasy.com has chosen to bring wire binding in house with a triple investment in Renz solutions.
PrintedEasy.com, the new name for Falkland Press, picked a Renz AP360 high speed automatic punching system, a Renz MOBI 500 ring wire binding solution and a Renz Punch 500 ES to deliver the expanding service.
The investment supports the operation’s growing online business. Originally established in 1976, today PrintedEasy.com specialises in saddle stitched, perfect bound and wiro bound brochure printing alongside 16 other core products on the www.printedeasy.com website.
It moved into its 43,000 sq ft Letchworth factory four years ago where it runs a Heidelberg SpeedMaster XL 106, two B2 HP Indigo 12000s and an HP Indigo 7900, alongside a diverse range of finishing equipment.
John Ellis, Finishing Manager, explains: “We plan to use the new equipment to increase our volumes across wire bound documents and calendars, and to remove the seasonal bottleneck we experience for calendar products during the October/November period.
“Printed Easy has an open dialogue with customers, so we are very in-tune with what they want from a print partner. Faster turnarounds and more options are the two requests we receive most often, so this is another way for us to continue giving them what they want. Our autonomy is what allows us to maintain the quality of our products and to keep prices competitive. Bringing wire binding in-house is going to help us continue to achieve this.”
The AP360 features a two-finger paper pick-up system, which can handle a range of mixed stock, fast die-changes, and has optional two part split dies for book and calendar work. It has the additional option of a touch screen with job memory which aids set-up, together with a paternoster feeding system for continuous production.
The user-friendly Renz MOBI 500. The flexible, semi-automatic ring wire binding solution for books, calendars and skip binding can handle different paper formats and oversized products up to 260 sheets. It can bind all wire sizes up to 1 1/4”. A touch screen also aids a short set up process.
The final element is the versatile Renz P500 ES. It can handle all types of books and calendar punching production with ring wire, plastic comb and coil options. It enables fast die changes and incorporates two part split dies for book and calendar work. It has a QSA (Quick Size Adjustment) for high flexibility of different paper formats, horizontal paper feeding and can handle a wide range of mixed stocks.
“We expect to start seeing a return on investment within the next six to eight months, says Ellis: “Renz machines are simple to use and to install, which made them instantly appealing. They provide the level of speed and efficiency that we are looking for, and don’t require much maintenance, so they’re an excellent long-term option, as well as giving us immediate benefits. We’ve re-launched three of our products since the new equipment was installed, and all of them are growing rapidly. Because we’ve taken away that manual labour element, we have increased our staffing resources while simultaneously reducing our outsourcing costs.
He concludes: “Renz’s reputation is second to none and that’s what attracted us. Their communication throughout the sales process was fantastic - we couldn’t have chosen a better supplier to work with.”
