|CRICKET CLUB BOWLED OVER BY MIDSHIRE SUPPORT
National managed print service provider Midshire has announced it is now a proud sponsor of the Charlesworth & Chisworth Cricket Club for the 2018/2019 season.
Formed from the amalgamation of the Charlesworth and Chisworth Clubs in 1895, the joint team now has two senior, three junior, and a ladies team, who all compete in the Derbyshire and Cheshire Cricket League at various levels.
Terry Brown, Secretary for the club comments: “Everyone at the Charlesworth & Chisworth Cricket Club would like to thank Midshire unreservedly for their support, we really cannot survive without the generous help of our sponsors. The money they’ve provided us with will be used to transport our junior players who otherwise wouldn’t be able to get to games, so we really can’t thank them enough.”
“We’re seeing an influx in young people coming to us wanting to learn cricket because it’s increasingly being dropped by schools. It’s very encouraging, but for us it means we must raise even more funds and find even more sponsors to provide people in the community with the space to do what they love.
Julie Hardacre, Treasurer for the club says: “The cost of running the club is surprisingly high, it totals around £8,000 per year just for general maintenance of the ground for example, so we’re always trying to fundraise for several projects. A big one for us at the moment is to get enough money raised to replace our practice nets!”
Located in the Bankside area of Charlesworth, the small village club uses a modern facility complete with function rooms, a quirky bar, and kitchen space, all run by dedicated volunteers, who rely almost entirely on donations from fundraising initiatives and sponsorship support.
Managing Director of Midshire, Julian Stafford comments: “We actually got to know the club because one of our ex-employees plays for them, their passion for the game really shines through. At Midshire, we’re passionate about healthy initiatives and encouraging healthy living, so when the opportunity came to sponsor Charlesworth & Chisworth we jumped at it!”
Terry concludes: “We’re always on the lookout for enthusiastic new players, as an England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) accredited club we offer ECB approved coaching to all of our junior members, so you never know, come join us and you could go far!”
The club strives to lay the foundations for a lifelong passion for physical activity to children by hosting the ECB All Stars Course this year, which provides an eight week activity and game based programme to 5-8 year olds of all skill levels.
Other organisations have shown their support for the club, with sponsors including: The Candair Engineering Company, Charlesworth Motors, Interlith, and the Woodlands Tea Room & Guest House.
