VeloBlade opens new doors of opportunity for Digitronix

Leeds based design and print agency, Digitronix Ltd recently took the decision to invest in the VeloBlade 64 digital die-cutting system from Vivid Laminating Technologies Ltd. They have been impressed by the flexibility of the system, the varying products they can produce as well as the incredible service they’ve received from a long standing supplier.
Tom Stevenson, Managing Director of Digitronix Ltd said “As soon as we saw the VeloBlade in action at Vivid’s showroom, we knew we had to have it. It was exactly what we needed to bring die-cutting in-house, reduce costs on short runs and speed up production times. Since installation, we’ve produced loads of different jobs to date, from beautiful Christmas cards to packaging products, kiss-cut stickers, hanging tags, you name it, we’ve done it”

With a digital first vision, Digitronix look for ways to automate the intricate short-run, high value work they produce for clients. They love the difficult and challenging projects that fall outside of a typical production environment, and wherever possible, aim to produce everything in-house, offering clients an end to end service from concept to production.
Over the past year, Digitronix has invested heavily in new finishing kit enabling them to achieve their goals as a company and to better serve new and existing customers. Tom told us, “We didn’t necessarily have an immediate need or specific application for the VeloBlade but knew that once we enhanced our designs with digital die-cutting, then our clients would go for it. The VeloBlade digital die-cutter is the final piece of equipment to complete a £100k investment in finishing kit in the last 12 months. It’s opened up endless creative opportunities to excite our clients with”.

Having partnered with Vivid for coming up to 15 years, Digitronix are vocal in their admiration for not only the quality of the systems that Vivid manufacture, but also the incredible level of service they continue to receive. On his experiences with the print finishing manufacturer, Tom said, “We’ve always had great service from Vivid. We initially invested in some laminating equipment nearly 15 years ago and the partnership has grown since then. We invested in the Matrix digital foiling system a couple of years ago and the service has always been great, so it was very easy to make the investment in the VeloBlade”.
“The VeloBlade 64 was originally launched back at The Print Show in September 2019 and has been incredibly well received within the industry, with sales continuing at a rapid rate”, Richard Marlow, Vivid’s Sales Director told us. “We’re working with our customers and partners to open up new markets and revenue streams, with packaging, POS and labels just a few of the many doors of opportunity”.

In fact, due to the tremendous success of the VeloBlade 64, Vivid recently extended its digital die cutting range with the VeloBlade 68, which advances on the 64’s capability of cutting SRA3 sheets to now being able to manage stocks up to B2. Making it perfect for those who need to produce a higher quantity or larger finished products.
