Would-be authors wanting to break into the best selling romance genre could do worse than take inspiration from tv’s Love Island:All Stars.
The current series of the hit show is once again attracting huge audiences, particularly with the most romantic day of the year just around the corner.
And according to the head one of the UK’s largest digital print platforms, the show could be a huge help to anyone wanting to get their own ideas into print.
Louise Stephenson, Managing Director of WTTB, which offers book printing along with every other type of print product, believes all the themes that rear their heads on the tv series can also be found in some of the best selling romance novels.
And with Valentine’s Day just weeks away, Louise believes there’s no better time for anyone who has considered writing their own book to do just that.
“February 14 is almost upon us so everyone is thinking about romance and loved ones,” said Louise.
“And anyone watching Love Island:All Stars can see for themselves that it has all the key ingredients that would translate perfectly into a book.
“Stunning settings, intrigue, revenge, tension, fallouts, jealousy – and of course love – everything we see in every episode of the show and all of the elements a great book needs.”
Using WTTB’s Book Super Centre means authors don’t need to have an agent or a publisher – they can simply print their own books and follow in the footsteps of some of the most successful self-published writers.
50 Shades of Grey writer EL James self published her book originally, which led to her banking around $40m.
The same goes for author Deborah Bladon, who has self-published 21 of her own romance books, selling a staggering 3.5million copies and making it to the best seller list on numerous occasions.
And they are just two of a whole host of romantic fiction writers who have taken their destiny into their own hands and published their stories themselves.
“Everything that locks us into a romantic novel are themes we see in Love Island,” said Louise.
“It doesn’t matter if it’s a historical story or a contemporary one, those same themes are just irresistible and keep us hooked from the first page.
“It’s the backdrop, the sense of anticipation, the jeopardy – they are timeless and never lose their fascination.
“And with Valentine’s Day on the horizon, what better time is there than to think about romance?”
