Route 1 Print Invests In Canon varioPRINT iX3200 To Expand Digital Print Capabilities

Route 1 Print has strengthened its digital print offering with the installation of a new Canon varioPRINT iX3200 High Speed Inkjet Press, as part of its major £12 million factory wide investment programme.

Operating from its 300,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Rotherham, the installation represents the latest phase of Route 1 Print's ongoing investment strategy, designed to increase production capacity, improve efficiency and deliver even greater value to print resellers.

For customers, the investment delivers significant improvements in print quality, consistency and turnaround times. Using Canon’s water based polymer pigment inks, ColorGrip conditioning technology and integrated quality assurance systems, the varioPRINT iX3200 produces sharp detail, smooth gradients and vibrant colour while maintaining the look and feel of premium offset print.

It is a real game changer for Route 1 Print’s uncoated and textured stocks, delivering exceptional print quality and a premium finish across a wider range of applications.

The press also expands the variety of applications available to Route 1 Print’s reseller network. Its ability to switch quickly between media types enables efficient production of its core flat, folded and book product range without compromising speed or quality.

Jack Parks, Head of Route 1 Print, said: “This investment is all about giving our customers more. More capacity, more flexibility and even greater confidence that we can deliver exceptional quality at speed, whatever the application."

"Our reseller customers rely on us to help them stay competitive, and the addition of the Canon varioPRINT iX3200 allows us to do exactly that. It enables us to produce outstanding print quality while maintaining the fast turnaround times and competitive trade pricing that our customers expect."

At its core is industry leading productivity. The varioPRINT iX3200 can produce up to 9,120 SRA3 duplex images per hour, helping increase capacity, speed up production and maintain consistently competitive trade pricing.

This investment strengthens our manufacturing capability today while giving us the flexibility to continue expanding our product offering in the future."

The investment also supports Route 1 Print’s long term sustainability ambitions, including its goal of achieving Net Zero across scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions by 2035. By enabling precise, on-demand production, the technology helps reduce waste and lower paper, ink and energy use.

The installation marks another milestone in Route 1 Print’s investment in manufacturing technology.
